Pagadian City – Talented women took
center stage as this year’s provincial founding anniversary highlighted the World
of Dance Competition on Thursday night featuring the members of KALIPI
(Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina) from 26 municipalities and one city of Zamboanga
del Sur.
A first of its kind competition
in the province, the dance battle was inspired by the dances and costumes of
different countries around the world. Each group were all geared up in their spectacular
performances which left the audience thrilled and astounded.
Gov. Victor Yu, delighted
with the presentation of each contenders, was convinced to put additional amount
to the cash prizes for the winners.
In the end, three women’s
groups were announced as winners.
Tambulig bearing the Indian dance
concept was declared champion and bagged the prize of P80,000. The Ukranian-themed
dance of Lapuyan won the first prize of P60,000 while the Mexican-inspired dance of Pagadian City brought home
the second prize of P40,000.
