In a turn-over ceremony at Camp Abelon, Pagadian City on Tuesday, Espero accepts the challenge of leading the police force of Zamboanga del Sur as Retusto retires from service.
PBGEN Ronaldo L. Llanera, Deputy Regional Director for Administration led the ceremony and was witnessed by 27 chiefs of police from 26 municipalities and one city of the province. Also present during the event were Board Member Juan Regala, chairperson of the Peace and Order Committee of the Provincial Board and stakeholders from various sectors representing the Provincial Advisory Council (PAC).
Espero was previously the police director of Ilocos Norte and the chief of the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division of PRO9.
In his inaugural message, PCOL Espero expressed his profound respect for PCOL Retusto whom he considered as his upperclass and vowed to continue his initiatives as former provincial director of Zamboanga del Sur.
He added that he wants to implement a real "police presence" that is visible to the people and the general public. He asked the support of the entire police force, urging their cooperation in upholding peace and order of the province.
Meanwhile, PCOL Retusto said he was grateful for his stint in the provincial PNP where he led the ranks for 1 year, 7 months and 19 days.
The outgoing director received a Medal ng Kasanayan for his meritorious service to the province of Zamboanga del Sur.
