Regional Development Council is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region. It is composed of local government officials, regional heads of departments and government offices and representatives from non-governmental organizations within Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City.
RDCs provide for administrative decentralization to strengthen the autonomy of local government units in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
In an interview with the Provincial Press Bureau, Gov. Yu expressed his appreciation to PRRD for the trust and confidence he gave him.
The governor said that it is an advantage for Zambosurians since the position will pave a way for his office to know the priority programs and projects of the national government that can be adopted for the province.
However, the new chair assured that all socio-economic initiatives will be fairly distributed to the provinces of Region 9, where RDC is the highest-policy making body that serves as the counterpart of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).
